Restylane, which is made in Sweden, is one of the most popular and well known of the dermal and cosmetic fillers, since it was one of the first to receive FDA approval in the USA. An estimated 4 million Restylane treatments have been carried out worldwide to date. Based on non-animal derived hyaluronic acid, Restylane is utilized to smooth wrinkles and enhance lips instantly with no patient pre-testing required. Between 50-80% of Restylane patients will have effects that remain after 6 months. The Restylane naturally integrates into the surrounding tissue and dissolves naturally with time. Restylane has the ability to bind with the body’s own hyaluronic acid for a plumping effect, making it ideal for lip enhancement. The product is available in varying gel sizes to treat different areas of the face. Usage has been declining since the introduction of the longer lasting hyaluronic acid filler, Juvederm.
When injected into the middle of the dermis, Restylane is most effective when treating moderate to light wrinkles and to plump the lip area.
Consisting of a larger particle size, Restylane Perlane when injected into the deeper layers of the dermis is suitable for treating deeper lines and for facial contouring.
Used to treat fines, superficial lines and wrinkles, Restylane Touch is suitable for the first signs of ageing.
As the name suggests, this product was designed specifically to add fullness to the lip area and achieve a contoured look to the lips.
Consisting of the largest gel particle size, Restylane SubQ is represented as an alternative to fat transfer treatments and can be used to create and define facial contours.
Used to treat a number of large areas including the hands, neck and décolletage area, Restylane Vital is used specifically to replenish hydration in these areas, improving skin appearance and elasticity. Unlike regular dermal or cosmetic filler that generally require a single treatment, two to three Restylane Vital treatments are recommended every four weeks, with scheduled maintenance treatments after four to five months.
